Back to JL Script

It’s Labour Day. I stayed up late last night trying plugins on the site and came across the one I already mentioned. Slept a good 8 hours though, and have gotten some work done on the script for Jump Leads. It’s been slow going, but I’m going to get it finished someday. I like the way it is going.

Cursed Pirates RPG project begun

I started working on a set of adventures for a pirate themed RPG using the BRP system. I don’t know if I’ll see if I can get permission to sell it myself, or just try selling it to Chaosium.

I hit the halfway mark on my EA Active 30-day challenge today.

Dying for a Cause completed

I just wrote the final story for Dying for a Cause, a 100 word story anthology created to raise money for Relay for Life. I auctioned off 10 spots in a Second Life auction at Third Life Books. The winners got to die in their own 100 word story, written by me. Only 7 slots were sold (at 4500Lindens each), but I still wanted ten stories, so I asked a few other people who have been a big part in Relay for Life, or some other cause, such as Podcasting for Water.

The winners are

Jordyss Paine

Delaney Button

Kat Klaybourne

Mike Stackpole

Tully McLeod

Chuck Heintzelman (as Wildebeast Ferengi)

Daphne Abernathy

John Wilkerson

Dave Avilia

JT Indie

I’ll want to go over the stories one more time, and have another set of eyes look at them for errors, then I’ll turn them into a PDF and a THiNK book (A Second Life format), and everyone can read 10 horrifying deaths, all for a good cause. I plan to have a release party in Second Life, and for as many as possible, I’ll have the winners read their stories aloud as they read them for the very first time.

Editing and Reading

Tonight I edited a story called Breakdown. It’s about a man going to see a summer blockbuster movie, but he has trouble getting there. I used feedback from the writing group to make changes. I feel it is a much better story now. I’ll be reading it Sunday at West of Ireland in Second Life.

I’ve almost ran my writing bar to 100% this month! It’s been a writing bonanza.

Speaking of editing, I’ve got to edit all ten Stan Prolongo stories, checking for my infamous tense shifts, and some typos. Should go quick. It’s on tomorrows schedule.

Nearing 5/10 stories for Stan Prolongo Season 2

I guess I haven’t blogged much lately.

I’m almost done with the 5th Stan Prolongo Season 2 story. I’ve got five more and I am supposed to have them all done by today. It might actually happen!

Had some friends over today, played some games, made some tasty tasty burkey (beef and turkey) burgers. Then we walked and picked blackberries. We got a motherload!

I’m about to clean up, listen to the 100 word story weekly challenge for this week, then I hope to be writing for the rest of the evening!

Stan Prolongo and Snark Tank Radio

I’ve begun writing episodes of Stan Prolongo for the Jaded Visalian podcast. I wote the first episode last night when I couldn’t sleep due to a little person not sleeping. I also had a small headache. I guess there aren’t that many excuses for not writing, if I pulled that off. I didn’t write season one of the show, but I made notes of everything in season one so I can work it all together.

I’ve also been writing 100 word stories for the Snark Infested Waters show Snark Tank Radio. As of this post I’m in the latest two episodes Ninjas and Chainsaws.

None of these things pay me (in money, anyways), but I’ve decided there are two reasons to write: For my own pleasure, or to get paid. While both at the same time is ideal, either one alone is reason enough. Any writing is good though because it sharpens skill as well.

Another Project: Stories of the Children

Started my story for P.G. Holyfield’s anthology “Stories of the Children”. Managed 772 words and finished the first scene. I think it’ll turn out pretty good. I’ve got a fairly detailed idea where the story will be going.

Jumping on Jump Leads

Picked up my Jump Leads script again. Got another page or two of progress. I’m still not sure how many words and whatnot translate to a single comic page.

Started another story, just a few hundred words. It’d end up as a serial set of stories. I’m really excited about it, more than some other ideas I’ve had. Wont say much, because the more I say, the less excited I get as I leak the ideas.

Done pretty good on my 100 word a day minimum. On Sunday I totally forgot, and Monday I pushed myself a bit much on the treadmill, and along with low sleep (see: 1 year old child), I fell asleep deciding if I should get out of bed and write 100 words. Wrote 198 today and few days ago it was over 200.

The hope is that as I write some every day, I’ll be able to write more and more, possibly faster. I have so many stories, many sitting as nearly done. I feel I have an obligation to get Jump Leads done as soon as I can, though, so I am focusing on that.

Half a year later

Last November I participated and survived and completed NaNoWriMo. I finished by writing ten thousand words on the last day.

Whew!

Then I let the book sit for six months.

In a day or two’s time I had a few mentions of it, and was thinking about it, so I decided to start editing it.

I went through chapter One today. I made some changes, fixed some errors, and pondered the whole plot of the book. As is I have two viewpoint characters, but I’m wondering if I should cut one and have them meet in totally different ways.

I think it will be best to make it work as it is, then make major changes like that later.

I’ll continue going through chapter by chapter.

I know there are three sections I really like. Chapter one, the last chapter, and one scene. The rest, I’m not so sure about.

A good day of writing.

I finished a story for Great Hites #52 today, writing 568 words. That story totals at 1278 words. I wrote another story of 1386 words for Great Hites #51.

I’m happy with the writing for today. I got a lot done. I’m glad I have support from my wife in my writing. She understands the creative process.

I will record both of these soon. One I will likely send other to the Cthulhu Podcast. It is a Lovecraftian tale.

The other one is about a hat.

Ok, time to head to bed and get some rest so I can take the week on with bright eyes and a bushy beard!
